Peco is probably best known as the original designer of the animated series Mayoi Neko Overrun! His just released art book Peco Artworks – Peco no Kiseki really shows off his talents.

But there is plenty of art work in this 96 page, softcover A4-size art book. The cover art work is new along with a double-sided fold-out poster, pictured above. The rest of the art works for range from the light novel covers, to stick posters, and other promotional art works.

The book has no overlap between pages, but the images do line up cleanly. The illustrations are on single pages, so page spreads aren’t a big issue in Peco Artworks – Peco no Kiseki. Very few images share a page, so the presentation is higher quality than I expected. Another thing I expected were the black and white light novels, but those haven’t been included.

There are four pages of illustrations from stick posters, all slightly cut off. But, they’re stick posters so they never were complete images to start out. There are also promotional poster works of Serizawa Fumino, and also one with her as the Animate mascot. In total, the Mayoi Neko Overrun! takes up 41 pages of this 96 page collection.

The next section features the art work from Peco’s Tamafuri series which is also a light novel. The series art work featured over 18-pages. Though the art work is slightly older, it has its own style. To me it looks more polished and detailed than much of the Mayoi Neko Overrun! art work.

The final section features Peco’s works from a variety of titles, along with some of the gorgeous illustrations from Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo.

These illustrations just seem miles away from the Mayoi Neko Overrun! art works, which by comparison almost look like an oversimplification of Peco’s art style.
