Colorful Berry is a joint publication by two artists, Ichiyou Moka and Konno Kengo, who have very similar color palettes, but unique art styles. Both covers of Colorful Berry are used like a front cover and depending which side you come in on, you’ll either start out with Ichiyou Moka’s illustrations or Konno Kengo’s works.

Colorful Berry is B5-sized and 20 pages. The outer cover is slightly textured, but the cover illustrations are printed again inside with a subtle variation. For instance, on Ichiyou Moka’s cover, the girl is eating a berry, but on the inside version of the illustration, she’s eaten it and is licking her lips! Most of the illustrations are originals, but there is one Touhou illustration featuring Reimu Hakurei.

Konno Kengo’s character illustrations are equally good, but I’d say Kengo does a lot more work on the backgrounds, creating settings for the ethereal girls. The colors are still really out there, making that the common point for the two artists. In the center of the book, each artist includes a personal message. Though I’ve encountered art work by these two artists before, Colorful Berry showcases their talents a lot better than anything I’ve seen so far.
