Reading Time: 2 minutesFUFUFU 2011 released this past weekend at Comic LIVE, a convention that centers around doujinshi artists and cosplay. Vinhnyu’s 2011 collection is like a yearbook of 2010 and early 2011, commemorating the anime highlights of the past year.
FUFUFU 2011 is B5-size, staple-bound and 24 pages in length. The cover art features White Rock Shooter and continues the style set by the first volume of FUFUFU. The illustrations begin with tribute art for Black Rock Shooter, drawn for Pixiv’s Comiket 79 release BLACK ★ ROCK SHOOTER ~ THE GIRL IS THE MERCILESS MISTRESS OF THE NIGHT.
Four of the illustrations in FUFUFU 2011 are spreads. The very detailed Katanagatari fan art stands out. The characters are in an infinite loop with all of the legendary swords. The textured finish really makes it stand out from the other works in the book.
Panty & Stocking also make an appearance, looking much more buxom than usual. This past Comiket provided a wealth of fan art for Panty & Stocking and it is interesting to see how artists handle the characters.
All of the art work is from this year or last, so the shows and games featured are all easy to remember and relevant, from Puella Magi Madoka Magica to BlazBlue Continuum Shift (with Platinum the Trinity) to Marvel vs. Capcom 3 making for a more enjoyable collection. It will be on sale again for JAPAN EXPO 2011 and afterwards it should be available for direct sale.
