Tsunasima Sirou Illustrations -ROAD- is an impressive art book. But it would be even more impressive if you haven’t purchased EXTEND Tsunasima Sirou Illustrations. If you did, you’ll want to skip this review because nearly all of the content from EXTEND is in -ROAD- and that will just make you feel bad.

-ROAD- is 194 pages, A4-size, and full color, which is huge for a solo artist collection. Including the content from the previous book helped boost the size. The majority of illustrations feature on either a full page or a spread. However, the only new art is the cover and the double-sided fold-out poster. Everything else was previously published. The poster features the Jinki: Extend characters on one side and Orichalcum Reycal on the other.

-ROAD- starts out with older illustrations from both Life: Errors and JINKI (First Edition). This section goes from page 6 through 37, showcasing a time when Tsunasima Sirou used watercolor markers.

The next section features Jinki: Extend with its spin-offs and retellings, like Jinki Extend RELATION, and JINKI (New Edition). These feature on pages 38 through 105, though it all looks like Jinki: Extend. One of the things I’ve always liked about Sirou‘s art work is that it’s already anime-style, allowing for crisp and colorful art selections.

The cover art from EXTEND Tsunasima Sirou Illustrations features along with the new Jinki: Extend DVD Box art works and the Jinki – Shinsetsu covers, which weren’t in the last collection.

Another substantial portion of -ROAD- is Orichalcum Reycal, Sirou‘s newest manga. I love the costume designs influenced by his mecha design style.

There are also 10 pages of art work from Embryo Machine RPG, followed by a few pages of art from Murasakiiro no Qualia, a light novel running in Dengeki Bunko Magazine.

After that are a few illustrations from Gundam tribute illustrations and an end card from Seikon no Qwaser and Kurogane no Linebarrels.

The final section of Tsunasima Sirou Illustrations -ROAD- is “Heroines Gallery” and includes the girls from Tsunasima Sirou’s original works. It’s mostly Jinki: Extend and Shinsetsu, though there are a couple of illustrations from Orichalcum Reycal.
