CARNELIAN – Benigyokuzui Vol. 273 min read
Reading Time: 2 minutesCARNELIAN’s Benigyokuzui Vol. 27 is like a product catalog. The majority of illustrations come from merchandise releases. I seldom buy anything other than books, so it’s a welcome addition to my small CARNELIAN collection.
Benigyokuzui Vol. 27 is B5-size, full color, and 30 pages. Each page has a decorative frame, showcasing original characters and fan art. The cover art features CARNELIAN’s Major Arcana Tarot Card illustrations, which also released as merchandise and feature as rough sketches in Benigyokuzui Vol. 24.
I think the chibi-style art work was from CARNELIAN’s snow globe calendar. Most, if not all, of the illustrations were previously published. Benigyokuzui Vol. 27 was released at then end of June in 2010, so that can give you some idea of the merchandise timeline. The flavored girls from another of CARNELIAN’s doujins, RECIPE, appear in this collection, too.
That Hatsune Miku illustration actually appears in another of CARNELIAN’s doujins in addition to merchandise, but this is a less cropped version with extra sparkles! Though the art works in Benigyokuzui Vol. 27 weren’t new, it was still worthwhile as it gathered art from items a lot of people don’t buy. I’m under the impression it was sold only through her site, which is why it’s a bit hard to find, but it does appear on Yahoo! Japan Auctions and eBay.
