Reading Time: 3 minutesYasuda Suzuhito released his first ever art books, Shooting Star Carnaval and Shooting Star Bebop. The books are best as a pair with an impressive collection of virtually everything Yasuda Suzuhito has published. Since each of these books is packed, it’s easier to review them separately.
Shooting Star Carnaval is an A4-size art book with 128 pages. The book starts out with three new illustrations. One is a spread of the cover art from Shooting Star Bebop. There’s also a really cute Patapon x Yozakura Quartet piece.
The main series in this volume are Yozakura Quartet and Kamisama Kazoku. Yozakura Quartet occupies most of the book. It runs from pages 8 through 60 and starts out with anime DVD cover illustrations. It includes illustrations from merchandise like calendars, manga covers, and CD covers.
There are also a couple of collaboration illustrations with Houden Eizo.
Kamisama Kazoku is the next section and it runs from pages 61 through 80. There are a lot of tiled illustrations in this section, with the DVD cover illustrations featured along with CD art works.
The Others section is next going from page 81 to 115. The illustrations in this section come from a lot of different sources like Hatsune Miku Vocaloid, Code Geass, Love Plus, and many other original works. There are also a couple of pages of Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor art works.
The last 10 pages of the art book are full of small, tiled, monochrome illustrations from Yasuda Suzuhito’s light novels. The last pages feature Yasuda Suzuhito’s comments on selected illustrations. Shooting Star Carnaval is really beautiful. If you’re a fan of Yasuda Suzuhito’s art work, it’s worth it.
