Ayakura Juu Illustrations Spice and Wolf is the most comprehensive Spice and Wolf art collection. It’s also Ayakura’s first art book. The obi boasts an incredible 400 illustrations. But that count includes pictures of apples and coins along with small monochrome thumbnails.

The art book is A4-size and 204 pages. The cover is new and so is the first illustration, with Lawrence embracing Horo.

The inside presentation varies a lot. Small displays are for the monochrome illustrations from the Spice and Wolf light novels. The small color illustrations are from back cover arts. They feature a miniaturized Horo, apples, coins, books, purses and the like.

The last volume of Spice and Wolf came out in July. Even still, the cover illustration from volume 17 is included, along with illustrations from the epilogue. One of the exclusive illustrations features the entire cast bathing in the hot springs.

The illustrations that accompany the television show merchandise appear in the latter half of the book. This includes the small illustrations from the anime ending sequences. It has the Blu-Ray and DVD cover illustrations as well. The Spice and Wolf light novel covers for past issues of Dengeki Bunko Magazine, are in there, too.

The Nintendo DS Spice and Wolf art is on 10 pages. There are also some anachronistic Horo illustrations with her wearing a school uniform and other modern clothing.

There are two guest illustrations at the end, one by Koume Keito and the other by Yasu. Ayakura Juu was one of the guest artists for Yasu‘s art book, Yasu Illustrations. There is an index with Ayakura Juu’s comments on selected works.
